According to United Nations "The theme for the 2020 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking "Better Knowledge for Better Care" emphasizes the need to improve the understanding of the world drug problem and how in turn, better knowledge will foster greater international cooperation for countering its impact on health, governance and security."
The UN's 2007 World Drug Report shows the value of the illegal drug trade at US$322 billion a year.
On this day, people of different countries celebrate the day together, and many programs are conducted such as campaigns, rallies, poster designing, etc. As drug use increases, the day becomes more important.
The theme for International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2019 was 'Health for Justice. Justice for Health', highlights that "justice and health are two sides of the same coin when it comes to addressing drug problems.
