Saroj Khan, was one of the most prominent and leading Indian dance choreographers in Hindi cinema, was born at Nirmala Nagpal on 22 November 1948. She choreographed more than 2000 songs during her career span over forty years, and she also was known as "The Mother of Dance/Choreography in India". She passed away on July 3, 2020, due to a sudden cardiac arrest.
She started her career at the age of three as a child artist, with the film Nazarana as a child, and a background dancer in the late 1950s. She learned to dance under film choreographer B. Sohanlal while her working time. In 2005 she appeared on a reality show "Nach Baliye" as a jury member, which aired on the channel "STAR One".
She won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the movie "Jab We Met" on 2007, Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for "Guru", the same year.
