Instagram allows its users to upload images and videos, that can be edited with its inbuilt filters, and the media can be upload, and or organized with hashtags and geographical tags. The app provides an option to its users, to share media files publically or with pre-approved followers.
Users can browse other user uploads or trending contents by hashtags and locations. Users can like, comment, or follow other users. In 2010, Instagram became the 4th most downloaded mobile app.
The app gained popularity after its launch in 2010, they reached on million registered users in two months. In April 2012, Facebook acquired Instagram for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock.
