CHENNAI: Edappadi K Palaniswami, Tamil Nadu chief minister announced an intense 12-day lockdown in Chennai and three neighbouring districts, hengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur. Between June 19 and 30.
Chennai state reported nearly 2,000 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking its tally closer to 45,000. However, the government also announced Rs 1,000 cash support to all ration card holders, who are under the lockdown area, and allowed essential services to function.
