Who is responsible for this cruelty to the wild elephants? The elephant, or you?

This is a translated version of a recent post on the Facebook page Goodasangam (a mysterious gang). An elephant in Silent Valley National Park died of burns after trying to eat pineapples filled with crackers. The elephant has suffered a tragic end by the cruel entertainment of humans, the elephant, who left the forest and sought his food, was the victim of this cruelty, at this point Goodasamkham analyzes who is responsible for this for inhumane, atrocious acts.

The elephant's son does not need to be exaggerated to be portrayed as the son of a Sahayan (In Kerala, elephants are also known as "son of Sahayan", Sahyadri or Sahayan mountains also known as the Western Ghats, Southern India). Gajarajas, the elephants called in Kerala, meaning The King, rule not only in culture and faith but also in all areas of our life. Some stories may be myths and others may be miracles, anyway, the elephant is a fascinating creature for Malayalees or Keralites. Elephants represent all areas in our life such as literature, legends, war techniques, painting, and sculpture.

The elephant belongs to the class Mammalia of Proboscideans (a taxonomic order of afrotherian mammals). There are three species of elephants found on this planet: the African bush elephant, the African wild elephant, and the Asian elephant. All the other elephant species became extinct during the ice age, Mammoth is an example. The presence of elephants in ancient murals has led researchers to believe that humans have been trying to tame the elephant since ancient times. Elephants were hunted and raised in Egypt as early as 5000 BC, the stone inscriptions, obtained from the Nile river valley culture proves it.

In India, elephants were used to fight during wars between princely states until independence. Elephants are mentioned in our historical records. During the Persian invasion, the Rajputs used the Gajad (elephant) army effectively.

Elephants have an average life span of 70 years, but elephant hunting and disease affect their life span. Elephants in the forests of Kerala have not faced endangered as much for other creatures. Maybe it's because of the timely protection measures of the states. However, records show that more than 500 elephants were killed for various reasons over the past 10 years. All the major Elephant paths (Aanathara) in the country are facing serious external environmental problems. Illegal mining in many states have disrupted the elephants' travel trajectory and have adversely affected the behavior of elephants.

Anyone who knows the characteristics of an elephant can see it with respect, most notable point in the nature of elephants is the behavior of the giant animal in each region, depending on their terrain or environment, whether it is Thattekkad, Shenduruny or the Peppara premises, it differs from each other and there is a markable difference in their behavior. Elephants in Gavi may sometimes be unwilling to please human presence, they may sometimes express their displeasure, but elephants in Thekkady, however, may not be disturbed by human proximity. This is a common feature, and elephants that live in forests are usually invasive. Maybe it's because of their bad experiences from humans. Elephants that live in the inner forest are generally peace-loving and are less likely to attack others.

Elephants generally live in large groups, can found them refreshed in rivers and mud or slush, every elephant will be very careful in taking their responsibility and it's fulfillment. Since they were children, elephants have been decided their future. One of the remarkable but interesting characteristics of elephants is, little jokes that occur in childhood will eventually grow larger, who wins the fight against each other in adulthood will become the leader of the elephant herd.

Elephants often migrating to human areas and starting to destroy crops because they losing their natural habitat. It is assumed that the elephants have no space to roam freely in the forest, land encroachment has caused many obstacles for the elephants, this is why elephants that migrate to human areas become more violent than in the forest. The destruction of forest resources such as bamboo and elephant grass in the forest forces them to enter into human-populated areas. Similarly, the media portrays elephants as terrifying creatures, wich comfort to land aggressors, indirectly, these are all affecting wildlife protection.

We must include the tribals together to protect them, they are the children of the forest, and, part of the knowledge of the forest, doing so will alleviate tribal exploitation. In my opinion, every person should know about the forest and biodiversity in its entirety. The forests and soil that our previous generation has provided for us, each one of us is bound to give to the next generation without getting lost.
