The Lebanese health minister said hundreds of people had been injured in the explosion. Several people are reported to be trapped.
According to CNN Report: The blast shattered the windows of hallways, entrances and salons, Lebanese state news agency NNA reported on Tuesday. “Doors and windows in several of the palace’ wings were dislocated,” it reported.
Al Jazeera reporting: Al Jazeera's Timour Azhari reaching the Beirut port shortly after the explosion, said the site looks like a "wasteland" with debris seen everywhere. Cars [from the ground] were thrown three floors up onto roofs of factories here, Azhari said.
Rescue services have not been able to reach the actual site of the explosion yet because fires are still raging. Helicopters are circling the area trying to extinguish the fire
, Azhari said.
The blast caused extensive damage in the capital. Videos of the two blasts has been widespread over the Internet. But the cause of the explosion is not known.

The Lebanese Red Cross has made an “urgent call” for blood donations from all blood types to work on medical emergency, those injured in the blast in the port of Beirut today, the organization said on Twitter.
