New to EURO? What to expect – and who to support!
According to UEFA, The UEFA European Championship is like a World Cup, but just for European teams. Between 11 June and 11 July, there will be 51 games, with the group stage – running from 11 to 23 June – a torrent of live football, with three matches most days.
"The delayed Euro 2020 will finally get underway on Friday, a year behind schedule, with Covid still set to cast a shadow over the tournament. The continent-wide event, first envisaged by then-UEFA president Michel Platini when he announced the tournament would be held across Europe, will be played in front of limited crowds and with strict health restrictions in place. The action kicks off at Rome's Stadio Olimpico, where Italy takes on Turkey in front of 16,000 fans." - NDTV Reported.
The stage is set for the 16th edition of the UEFA Euro to kick off from June 11. For the first time in history, the tournament is spread across 11 different venues in Europe, and so the 24 nations vying to win the prestigious trophy have disparate distances to travel through the tournament. - The Indian Express Reported.
