Onam Celebration 2021:
Onam celebration is a symbolic remembrance, the coming back of the Legendary King Mahabali to visit his people every year. Vamana, the incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, is another story that is as important as the arrival of Mahabali. Both are closely associated with Onam.

Onam is a ten-day-long festival that begins with Atham or Pookkalam (floral decorations on the floor), in the month of Chingam, to welcome King Mahabali. The ten days are Atham, Chithira, Chodhi, Vishakam, Anizham, Thriketa, Moolam, Pooradam, Uthradam, and Thiruvonam. Tiru Onam Puja is also performed during Shravana/Thiruvonam Nakshatra (star) in the Chingam month as per the Malayalam Calendar.
Onam 2021: Traditional art forms such as Pulikali, Theyyam, and Kerala style Onam Sadya (Onasadya), the food served in banana leaves are the main attraction of the festival. Onam Art Forms:
The famous Onam art forms include Mudiyattom, Pulikali, Kolkali, Thumbithullal, Thaalipeeli, Kaikottikali, Kummi, Kalippavakoothu, Onathar, Onapottan, Onam Kali, Tug of War, Thumbi Thullal, Kummattikali, Onathallu, etc. Most of these are traditional folk art forms. Onathar is performed during the Onam season in Kannur and nearby areas, also known as Onathappan. Onapottan is a folk character with paintings on the face, performed especially in the North Malabar region. Vallam Kali, Pookkalam, Onavillu, Kazhchakkula are also part of the festival.
Athachamayam and Onam Ghoshayathra are other main attractions of Onam.

Athachamayam cultural festival is a combination of almost all the folk art forms of Kerala. It is a grand celebration that marks the beginning of the ten-day Onam Festival. The venue for the event is Thripunithura, near Kochi. Thousands gather here every Onam season to witness this rare opportunity.
Ghoshayathra is a grand celebration held every year as a closing ceremony at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala followed by many traditional art forms such as Chenda melam, Puli Kali, etc.
