Arun Punalur, who is well known for his photographs from film festival venues, especially Goan Film Festivals, has now become an author of a book. Arun's first book 'Silayidangalil Sila Manitharkal' (സിലയിടങ്കളിൽ സില മനിതർകൾ) means 'Some People in Some Places' has been released by Malayalam film director Nadirshah, actors Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup, and actress Jewel Mary.

The book 'Silayidangalil Sila Manitharkal' contains 61 excerpts from his experiences, travelogues, and stories that he has written on Facebook since 2015. Journalist Prem Chand wrote the introduction for the book
Arun has given Oscar winner Resul Pookutty's caricature as a tribute, that he holds the Oscar award in his hand as the cover pic of his book. The cover image was drawn by famous cartoonist/caricaturist Rethish Ravi.
